Old Holywood

I loved Architectural Digest's online tribute to Old Hollywood photographer George Hurrell. The piece is entitled Hollywood Design, and highlights some of Hurrell's infamous photographs. Women all over the world are desperately trying to regain that old Hollywood glamor, maybe these pictures will serve as a reminder of what we loved most about early 20th century starlets!

Ispired by Cynthia Hart Calendars

When I was ten years old I got a Cynthia Hart Calendar, and fell in love. Flipping through those pages was like dreaming awake. It made me think of little women and, Jane Austen, and most important of all Romance! I came across the old Calendar today and had to take a stroll down memory lane.

Betting on a Weekend Adventure!

The Fiance and I went away for our anniversary this year.  We actually made nine years on the eighteenth!  It was pretty funny when I called him on the nineteenth and told him we should no longer be together since we both forgot to call each other on the actual date.  Anyone who knows me wouldn't think that I would find that sort of thing funny, but after nine years, I find my response for a lot of things to be, "I guess these things happen".

Anyway, we decided to make a quick trip down to Atlantic City.  He lives in Brooklyn and I live in Manhattan, so the two hour get away was perfect!  We left on Friday evening, and stayed at the Dolce-Seaview hotel.  How did we end up there you ask?  Kevon wanted to surprise me with the reservation, and since he wanted casinos and I wanted a lake and some trees, he thought this place was a good compromise.  In the pictures it looks nice, but once inside, the place felt a bit haunted.  The doors slammed heavy, and the switch by the door only turned on a small nightlight behind the television.  The flat screen television was the only updated amenity in the room.  The long hallways, which were dimly-lit by old brass chandeliers, added to this effect, and the hotel was plastered with what looked like 1950s floral wall paper.  All in all, I don't see myself ever staying there again.  From now on, I'll make sure I get my old world charm from antiquing, instead of staying in a place furnished completely in them.  I might as well point out that this trip made me re-think my murder-mystery weekend idea.  Picturing a murder taking place at Seaview gives me a serious case of heeby-jeebys!

During our trip we went to Harrah's Casino where I had my first blackjack experience.  Kevon was managing the money and we ended up losing all of our cash, with the exception of about thirty bucks, and had to solely rely on our credit cards for the remainder of the trip.  Kevon has this weird idea where he believes that everyone in the world takes American Express.  When will he learn!  Despite the fact that it happens all the the time, he's always extremely shocked when this is not the case.

On Saturday night, we decided to entertain ourselves at the Borgata.  We started with a comedy show, but the highlight of my trip was dinner at Wolfgang Pucks.  While the food was decent at best, the decor was absolutely delectable! The restaurant made up in appearance what they lacked in other areas! You tell me if the interior wet your pallet ; )

Hello World!

Welcome to my new blog!  No one would ever consider me to be organized, so this is something that I pray I will keep up with, and that many people will love and be able to relate to.  I am currently engaged, have a two year old, and in the process of searching for an apartment.  I know we all have so many things going on in our daily lives that we have little time to enjoy the world around us.  But I hope to encourage and inspire others to be seekers of beauty.  I look forward to sharing my process with you.  We all have handcuffs in our lives, some of us do figuratively, others literally (good for you, wink).  I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I will.
